…Lauds Heart and Capital’s innovation

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, vice-president, has lauded leading agricultural company, Heart and Capital, for creating a commendable platform for innovative discussion to move the agriculture sector forward and achieve sustainable wealth creation.

Osinbajo, who was represented by Andrew Kwasari, senior special assistant to the President on Agriculture, said the Agrowth Conference, was an initiative that could be replicated by other private sector players to enhance government’s efforts to develop the agriculture sector in Nigeria.

He said the Federal Government could take key learning from the way Agrowth Conference was structured, which ensured innovative solutions being discussed amongst experts from different sectors.

“I want to begin by thanking the organisers of this conference, we have keenly looked at their track record have deduced that they have been consistent to bring this yet about every year. Ladies and gentlemen, this is such a noble event, we have had challenges recently in our country particularly around the aspirations of young people, the responses from government, the global attention drawn on the income inequality,” Osinbajo said.

According to him, “What you ought to highlight basically from all of these today, is sustainable wealth creation using agriculture which is key and the way to do that is basically how we can achieve most of the noble desires and aspirations of this forum. This forum tends to be clear about what type of financial inclusion or financial outreach for the agric sector would create that sustainable ability to achieve food security, to achieve desired livelihood in particular, household income.”

Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Kayode Alabi, who was also present at the event, said: “Indeed, we are very impressed with what I have seen here today and I want to commend Heart and Capital for their contribution to the development of the state even as a private entity. Let me reiterate that there is need to diversify our economy from oil base to non-oil base sector economy. We are all aware that part of the policies of the present administration in Kwara State is to unlock the agricultural sector potentials and reduce dependency on accruable funds for farms in the state. This is why huge investment has been committed into the agricultural sector in Kwara State.”

According to Alabi, “The importance of agriculture in the development of our economy can never be over-emphasized and clearly in the 21st century”.

The Deputy Governor, commended the Chief Executive Officer of Heart and Capital, Umar Oba Adelodun, for being a model to other youths in the state, urging other youths in the state to be enterprising in order to improve the economy.
