Thirteen seed producing farms had started the production of certified seeds for sale to farmers in the North Eastern part of the country in the 2013/2014 farming season.
Dawughng Zamba, the head of the North East region of the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC), made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Thursday.
Zamba said that five of the companies were located in Adamawa, two each in Bauchi, Taraba, Borno and Gombe and none in Yobe.
He said most of them were involved in the production of maize, rice, soya beans, sorghum and millet seed, adding that almost all the companies performed well except one.
