A divisional police officer (DPO) has been gunned down in Kano State barely 24 hours after terrorists bombed an interstate bus terminal in the state killing at least 25 persons and wounding dozens.
Security sources in Kano told a newswire that Esther Tarimo, the DPO in the Daurawa District, was shot and killed by unknown gunmen early Tuesday afternoon.
It was gathered that she was trailed from her child’s daycare where she had gone to pick the infant from school.
In Maiduguri, the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) said on Tuesday that a soldier was killed after an explosion near a first generation bank round about in Maiduguri.
The force’s spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, announced this in a statement in Maiduguri.
Musa said that two other soldiers were injured by the explosion caused by a remote-controlled devise suspected to have been planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
“A remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) planted by suspected terrorists targeted at a JTF patrol van exploded around First Bank roundabout at about 12.30 at noon on Tuesday.
