In a rare move to halt the impending strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the House of Representatives on Tuesday resolved to invite the Minister of Education, Ruqayyatu Rufa’i and officials of ASUU.

The move was done in a motion of matter of urgent importance by Bashir Babale, who lamented that it has become very worrisome that university lecturers would have to embark on strikes to force government to meet its obligations on issues that have earlier been agreed upon in the best interest of the nation’s tertiary education.
