With the security challenges confronting the country, minister of interior, Abba Moro, yesterday announced that government would require $244 billion to effectively police Nigerian borders.
Moro, who came to brief members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee of activities of his ministry, disclosed that there are 84 identified legal borders and 1,497 illegal borders and admitted Nigerian borders are porous.
He disclosed that the Department of Home Security has agreed to assist in supplying surveillance equipment and said some of the components were captured in a proposal by a Chinese company.
