Ayodele Adewale, chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, has tasked the Federal Government on the plight of vulnerable children, saying that the government should see the opportunities in these children.

The chairman gave the charge when some vulnerable children under the coordination of Community Quality Improvement Team (CQIT) and NCW + made a peaceful walk to the council secretariat.

He noted that though the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has set aside May 7 of every year to mark Vulnerable Children’s Day, government should do more by coming out with a blue print to address their condition.

“The Federal Government should see great opportunities in these vulnerable children”, he said, advising the children to shun violence, hard drugs, prostitution and other anti-social vices.

Goodluck Obi, project director of CQIT/NCW+, in his address, noted that the peaceful walk in and around the council was to educate and sensitise people on the plight of the vulnerable children in the country, and to solicit for support in addressing the issue.

In another development, Adewale has described late Jadesola Akande as a social critic, a progressive and an educationist per excellence, charging Nigerian women to organise themselves to achieving the much desired gender equality.
