The Abia North Senatorial district will emerge the economic hub of the state following improved infrastructure in the area, Sam Ohuabunwa, has said.

Ohuabunwa, who was a former chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, made the assertion to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia.

He said that the area would become the hub of entrepreneurship in the state, adding that recent developments in the zone would facilitate a new dawn of economic activities for the people.

“The improved power situation in the area will support small and medium-scale businesses in the area.

“In the past, there have been cases of failed business attempts as a result of lack of power supply, but we are happy that the situation has changed for good”, he said.

Ohuabunwa regretted that Abia North had lagged behind in terms of infrastructure development due largely to inadequate attention.

He commended the Federal Government on the reform in the power sector which, he said had yielded good results.

“If Nigeria can have 12 hours of uninterrupted power supply then our economy will be better for it as ailing firms will be reinvigorated”, Ohuabunwa said.
