Out of the 1200 young female entrepreneurs who emerged winners of the 2nd batch of the Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWiN) business plan competition, the South West geopolitical zone got the highest number of awardees put at 292.
Figures from the YouWin coordinating office show that this was followed by the North Central zone from where 227 young female entrepreneurs emerged successful.
South South which got 189 awardees was followed by South East at 175; North West, 159 winners and then the North East from where 158 winners emerged.
YouWin national coordinator, Supo Olusi, said the 1200 winners emerged out of an initial 65,000 who applied.
He said 6,000 applicants made the initial cut off criteria and went through a rigorous process that entailed two stages of entrepreneurial training and submissions of business plans on which they were adjudged eventual winners.
