A youth group, known as Niger Delta Youths for Positive Attitude and Progress, has absolved the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) of blame over the report of the House of Representatives on the board.
The group faulted the report which described the NDDC board as a failure, stressing that the House used wrong criteria in its assessment, while pointing out that the new board cannot take responsibility for the past boards.
The NDDC had been criticised in the past for alleged failure to address some of the human and infrastructural development issues in the region without regard to the constitution of the board.
In a communiqué issued by the group and signed by the president, Enisuo Emmanuel, the group said the former board was dissolved due to greed and corruption even as the members fought against themselves over the issues.
In the communiqué which was made available to BusinessDay in Yenagoa, the group said the present board was focused, careful and prudent in its affairs just as they are working hard to avoid the mistakes of the past boards.
