The Good Governance Tour Team has advised the Akwa Ibom government to direct its attention to the establishment of ventures that would facilitate the emergence of an industrial sector in the state.

The good governance team which has since completed the tour of the state had during the town hall meeting gave its verdict, saying though much had been done in the area of infrastructure, it was time to focus on building an industrial base in the state.

The team led by Labaran Maku, minister of information, noted that Akwa Ibom is a civil service state, adding that steps should be taken to create industrial clusters that would provide jobs to thousands of unemployed youths in the state.

Maku also asked the state government to focus on agriculture as well as education, noting that the team could not see large scale farms throughout the tour of the state.

“You must continue to emphasise education, education and education”, Maku said.

Governor Godswill Akpabio told the team that the state government had spent N130 billion in intervening on federal roads in the state, maintaining it was not possible for the state government to “do everything”.
