Enugu government to capture land records with electronic device

The Enugu State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban Development has introduced electronic device to capture all the land records and location based service in the state for effective and faster delivery of service to meet with international standards.

Addressing newsmen in his office, the Enugu State commissioner for lands, survey and urban development, Chukwuemeka Ujam, said the project is called ‘Enugu Virtual Streets’ and that the ministry engaged the services of a transaction management company, Benjamin Knight Associates, to help formulate a workable system that will make the existing platform efficient and monetise the potentials of GIS for Enugu State.

Although, Ujam did not disclose how much the project will cost the state government, he said it is a service oriented programme as people has the right to key into it or not.

He said that outside the land records, the device is capable of aiding a stranger travelling through Enugu to easily locate area where he or she is going to.
