Calabar South Local Government Council in Cross River says it has set an annual target of N150 million as internally generated revenue (IGR) with effect from 2013.

The council’s chairman, Ekeng Henshaw, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar.

He said that as part of efforts to achieve the goal, the council had installed an automated revenue collection network in its secretariat.

Henshaw said that a contract on the revenue collection system would be signed between the council and a consultant before the end of March.

“We are going to generate between N100 million and N150 million from the streets of Calabar South, every year.

“We are targeting between N20 million and N30 million every month as internal revenue, using the automated collection system, and we are projecting that modest sum because our revenue is seasonal,” he said.
