Abia State is to hold its first ever youth empowerment summit which will focus on empowerment and security on April 24.

Eze Chikamnayo, the state commissioner for information and strategy, who disclosed this in Umuahia, said the theme of the summit is ‘Empowerment as a tool to security’.

He noted that empowerment is a panacea to insecurity, adding that because of various achievements recorded by Governor Theodore Orji in the area of youth empowerment, kidnapping which made Abia notorious in the past was dead in the state.

The commissioner hinted that Abia had been singled out as the most youth empowerment friendly state in Nigeria.

Chikamnayo said lots of youths have been empowered in the state and more would be empowered through training and thereafter soft loans given to them to start off on their own through the office of the wife of the governor, Mercy Odochi Orji and Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC).
