CreditPRO Finance has partnered with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to promote environmental sustainability across the state.
The partnership was marked by CreditPRO’s sponsorship of the Inter-Tertiary Institutions’ Environmental Summit 2.0 and debate competition, which took place recently in Lagos.
The event brought together students from tertiary institutions across Lagos State to discuss environmental sustainability and policy solutions.
Participants debated the theme: ‘Combatting Transboundary Pollution in Lagos State: A City-Level Intervention or National Effort?’
Speaking at the event, Sola Adeyiga, managing director of CreditPRO Finance Company Limited, emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and creating a more sustainable future.
Adeyiga noted that CreditPRO’s support for the summit reflects the company’s commitment to its ESG goals and its belief that sustainable growth can only be achieved when economic progress advances alongside environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
He further stated that businesses must move beyond the traditional view of success measured solely by financial performance and embrace the triple bottom line philosophy of profit, people, and planet.
According to him, truly sustainable organisations are those that create economic value while simultaneously contributing to social development and environmental preservation.
A major highlight of the event was the debate competition, where participating institutions presented compelling arguments on whether transboundary pollution in Lagos is best addressed through city-level interventions or a coordinated national effort.
The session showcased the intellectual depth, research capacity, and critical thinking abilities of the students while promoting meaningful dialogue on environmental governance and sustainable development.
Fajana Olamide Mary, a 300-level Mass Communication student from Lagos State University (LASU), emerged as the overall winner and was awarded the grand prize of N2 million in recognition of her outstanding performance and contribution to the debate.
Also, Babatunde Ajayi, general manager of LASEPA, commended participating institutions and stakeholders for their commitment to environmental advocacy and awareness, stressing the importance of engaging young people in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.
