Ahead of this Saturday’s bye-election in Ondo South Senatorial District, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on voters to conduct themselves peacefully to elect Dayo Faduyile of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that the Ondo South Senatorial seat became vacant in June 2026 following the appointment of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who spoke at the party’s grand finale campaign rally in Okitipupa on Thursday, described Faduyile as the best candidate to represent the district in the Senate.

According to him, Faduyile possesses the experience and capacity required to effectively champion the interests of the people of Ondo South in the upper legislative chamber.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, noted that the district had previously been represented by “an egghead” in the person of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and stressed that the people could not afford to lower the standard of representation.

He therefore urged all voters to turn out en masse on Saturday and vote for Faduyile to ensure the district continues to enjoy quality representation.

Aiyedatiwa also reaffirmed the Ondo APC commitment to delivering overwhelming votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in the the party’s growing popularity across the state.

In his remarks, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, urged party faithful and stakeholders to mobilise voters for the election, assuring them of the readiness and cooperation of the State Working Committee to secure victory for the party.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Femi Agagu, described Faduyile as a candidate whose credentials and popularity make him easy to market among the electorate.

Speaking on behalf of APC leaders in the district, Olusola Oke and Isaac Kekemeke said the bye-election presents an opportunity for Ondo South to demonstrate its electoral strength and readiness to deliver a resounding victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 general electiong.

The APC candidate, Faduyile, however, pledged to pursue a people-centred legislative agenda that prioritises the needs and aspirations of his constituents.

He assured that, if elected, he would champion quality representation, attract meaningful developmental projects, promote policies that improve livelihoods, and maintain close engagement with the people to ensure that their voices are effectively represented in the National Assembly.

Faduyile also promised to justify the confidence reposed in him through responsive, accountable, and impactful leadership.
