Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on reuniting with Marcus Rashford at Real Madrid as the Portuguese prepares to reshape the club’s attacking options.

Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, with the Catalan club holding an option to sign the England forward permanently for €30 million.

However, Barcelona are yet to activate the clause, leaving uncertainty over Rashford’s long-term future.

According to reports from Spanish outlet SPORT, Mourinho is a strong admirer of the forward and wants him at the Santiago Bernabéu as part of a renewed attacking project at Real Madrid.

The report claims Mourinho believes Rashford still possesses the pace, intelligence and explosive transitional qualities needed to thrive at the highest level of European football.

The pair previously worked together at Manchester United, where Mourinho frequently praised Rashford’s mentality, versatility and potential.

During his spell at Old Trafford, Mourinho described Rashford as “a fantastic boy” with “great potential”, and the two are understood to have maintained mutual respect despite difficult periods during the Portuguese manager’s tenure.

Mourinho reportedly views Rashford as an ideal addition to a squad he wants to make deeper, more competitive and fully equipped across every attacking position.

The English forward is said to have made financial sacrifices last summer to complete his temporary move to Barcelona, where he enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering 14 goals and 14 assists.

Barcelona’s final decision on a permanent transfer is expected to depend largely on the club’s financial situation and whether it can comply with La Liga’s 1:1 financial regulations before making major transfer commitments.
