Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to boosting local production and industrial growth, urging Nigerians to prioritise homegrown goods as part of a broader push toward economic transformation.
During a working visit to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Products Showroom in Abuja, Oduwole toured the agency’s innovation hubs and production facilities, commending its role in converting ideas into market-ready solutions.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Adebayo Thomas, Director, Press and Public Relations, at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
The minister highlighted NASENI’s diagnostic kit production line and its growing export potential under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as key contributors to Nigeria’s global trade competitiveness.
“We have a collective responsibility to buy what we produce and produce what we use,” the Minister said, stressing the importance of patriotic consumer habits.
She noted that NASENI’s work aligns with the administration’s vision of building a $1 trillion economy through job creation, GDP growth, and national security.
Nuru Abba Rimi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, lauded Oduwole’s proactive leadership, describing the visit as “more than symbolic,” and a precedent for strengthened collaboration between ministries and agencies.
In his remarks, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, NASENI, expressed appreciation for the Minister’s visit, calling it a milestone in public-private cooperation.
“We are proud to showcase our capacity not just to innovate, but to meet market demands with the right quality at the right price. From energy solutions to vaccine manufacturing, NASENI is delivering products that resonate with Nigerian aspirations and international standards,” he said
