Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf: Honourable Commissioner for Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos state

Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf is a renowned Pharmacist and politician, who has served on the State Executive Council as Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, 2015 – 17 and Wealth Creation and Employment, 2018 – 19. She bagged a B. Pharm. Degree from the University of Lagos, 2006 and Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from the Institute of Social Work of Nigeria.

She is a member of the Association of Ladies Pharmacists Society (ALPS), National Association of Social Workers of Nigeria (NASOW) and Pharmacists Society of Nigeria.

She is also the Managing Director/CEO of Musaroq Pharmaceutical, Beta Silver Crown Limited and Musaroq Nigeria Limited.

On the political front, she was the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Rural and Social Development, Agbado – Okeodo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alimosho, 2012 – 14 and has been a front liner in political activities in the LCDA. Her IBILE Youth Academy which attracted 500 youth participation, has instilled multipronged virtues for effective leadership in the youths.

She has facilitated the 6 months training in auto maintenance and repairs for 50 beneficiaries, facilitated the State Government’s empowerment programme for 500 People Living With Disabilities, with each of the 323 beneficiaries receiving N100, 000. 00, mobility aids, braille translation equipment, among other forms of assistance.

Uzamat has shown adequate philanthropy with the donation of empowerment kits and cash to over 100 start-up businesses, as well as educational materials that include text books , exercise books and school bags to 12 schools in her LCDA . She has equally undertaken volunteer infrastructural developmental projects as road grading, rehabilitation of public water projects and culvert construction within the LCDA.

As a human rights campaigner, she has ensured stringent enforcement of the Lagos State Child Safeguarding Policy while ensuring that violators of law faced the full wrath of the law.

In 2019, Uzamat was appointed the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs by Governor Sanwo-Olu until her recent redeployment to the Ministry of Tourism in January 2020 where she is presently serving.

The reason for creating the Ministry of Tourism is to showcase the rich heritage, diverse lifestyle and entertainment to promote Lagos mega city as a destination of choice. This is her focus.
