Personal finance expert and founder of The Smart Money Africa movement, Arese Ugwu is a trusted and acclaimed voice in the discussions about money and financial wellness. She currently co-hosts two talk-show series that have helped shape the new narrative on personal finance in the media.

The Smart Money Woman: An African Girl’s Journey to Financial Freedom is Arese’s latest offering as she ventures into storytelling, spinning a juicy tale about four girlfriends in Lagos, Nigeria navigating incredible money woes and coming out victorious.

Through the interesting scenarios of her fictional characters, she offers practical, step by step advice and solutions for a number of financial issues from investment and debt to budgeting and entrepreneurship. In a commendable literary effort, Arese manages to deal hard truths about money without sounding chastising or preachy.

Some of the biggest names across sectors from Business, Finance, Media and Entertainment have reviews the book.

Aliko Dangote, The Dangote Group Chairman and CEO said that The Smart Money Woman is “an entertaining way to learn about money. Ushering a new narrative of Africa, specifically of the African woman in the 21st century; her perspective, her ambitions, her journey, her flaws and all, but wholly hers”.

Uche Pedro of BellaNaija, Betty Irabor of Genevieve Magazine and Tara Fela-Durotoye of House of Tara all commended her ability to tell a great, hilarious story while driving home the strong message about the changes to be made in the relationship African women have with money.

“A journey through personal finance written from a truly African context by a gifted young woman who seeks to reposition and redefine the way we think about the subject”, was the review given by Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

The book is currently available in hardcopy and online versions nationwide and has achieved great commercial success, leading Arese to embark on a book tour with stops in Lagos, Ibadan, Akwa Ibom, Warri, Abuja and even Accra, Ghana to interact with readers.

The tour will include meet and greets, book readings, book signings, exclusive brunches and dinners, interviews, and other exciting events.

Arese Ugwu was a 2015 finalist for the Access Bank W Award for young professional of the year, and after eight years working in wealth management Arese is now engaging young Africans on the importance of financial literacy and the impact it has on helping them get money, keep money and grow money as they drive the continent forward.
