Premium, adapts to ‘challenging terrains’, JAC J7 unveiled with N1mn discount

The newest sedan by JAC, the J7, which has been described as a premium offering has been unveiled in Lagos at Elizade Auto Land, which took up distributorship of the brand in Nigeria nine years ago.

Ademola Ade-Ojo, who has led the company since inception as managing director, said the Chinese auto brand has come to stay, adding that the brand has won a lot of satisfied customers across Nigeria.

According to him, after the acquisition of 75% of JAC by Volkswagen, “the Merger and Acquisition has helped to improve the design, quality, specification and overall experience of the passenger vehicles. The first set of car models birthed from this German-Asian infusion amongst others is the all new exclusive JAC J7 (#theSleek)”.

The 4-cylinder, 1.5 turbo-charge-engine sedan, has cutting-edge 360 degree Camera sensors, to detect nearby objects and giving the driver a complete visual of their surroundings.

Asked about suitability of the car for the Nigerian terrain, Franklyn Okotie, head, Brand and Marketing Communication of Elizade Auto Land, said “The J7 is carefully designed with quality (in mind). The suspensions of the vehicle are well developed, and if you drive this car, being a premium sedan that it is, and not even an SUV, on any pothole in Nigeria, you would not feel the bump.”

As he explained, one of the things people consider when buying cars is maintenance and fuel economy, two parameters the car exceeds expectations.

“In terms of fuel economy and road challenges, it is a good fit,” said Okotie. “The manufacturer thought carefully about this market before putting the vehicle out here.”

Ade-Ojo, the company’s MD had also announced a N1m discount for the first 10 customers to procure the vehicle immediately after the launch, which witnessed testimonials from different customers from the private and public sectors, including a representative of the Lagos state government and the CEO of Coleman.

The car comes with 3years/100,000 kilometres warranty, with potentials of an increase to 5 years/150 kilometres. The JAC J7 Sleek is currently offered in 2 variants of –Flagship and Luxury, attracting a market value of N17m to N19m.

BusinessDay had also asked during a press briefing at the launch, of existing finance options by the company to aid potential buyers. Okotie had responded that the company has “aligned with strategic financial partners to make accessibility of funds for vehicle acquisition very seamless and possible. You don’t have to go through the usual hassles of assets acquisition.

“We have also developed in-house, a finance desk, so that before you even start talking to the bank we would have furnished you with all requirements and which bank best suites your payment plan, income window etc,” he said.
