Research carried out by JATO Dynamics, a global automotive market research company, revealed that there were 10 top cars that sold the most in 2022.
Out of these top 10 best-selling cars, five different Toyota brands of cars dominated the market globally in the year under review.
Here are the top 10 best-selling cars in the world in the year 2022:
Toyota Rav4
The Japanese-made Toyota Rav4 took the number one spot on the list as the world’s best-selling car in 2022. The SUV sold a total of 1,016,000 units in 2022 equally about 2,784 sales per day.
Toyota Corolla Sedan
The Toyota Corolla Sedan was listed as the second best-selling car in the world despite being discontinued in Indian Market within the year under review.
It sold a total of 992,000 units in 2022.
Tesla Model Y
The Tesla Model Y took the third spot in the list of world best-selling cars in 2022. The electric car sold about 747,000 units in the year under review and the EV car registered a 91 percent year-on-year growth in terms of sales.

Honda CR-V
Honda CR-V took the fourth position in the list of top best selling cars in the world despite the fact that it was discontinued in the Indian Market in 2022 due to low sales.
The SUV sold a total of 733,000 units in 2022
Toyota Camry
Toyota Camry model car was rated as the fifth best-selling car in the world. It sold a total of 673,000 globally in 2022.
Toyota Hilux
Toyota Hilux secured the sixth position in the list of the world’s best-selling cars and it sold 632,000 units in 2022 which was 13 percent higher than the sales in 2021.
According to research, Toyota Hilux has a very niche market in India and is extremely popular in the foreign markets though it is not available in North America.
Nissan Sentra
Nissan Sentra secured the seventh position on the world’s best-selling cars list and it sold about 566,000 units globally in 2022. It was said that about 80 percent of its sales were from China.
Toyota Corolla Cross
The Toyota Corolla Cross was the eighth best-selling cars in the entire world in 2022 and the producer registered a sale of 530,000 units globally.
Statistics has it that Toyota Corolla Cross recorded an unprecedented 221 percent growth on a year-on-year basis.
Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 pickup truck took the ninth position on the list of the world best-selling cars with a total of 525,000 units sold globally in 2022. When compared to 2021, the overall sale was down by 5 percent.
Tesla Model 3
Tesla Model 3 was the 10th best-selling car in the world in 2022 with a total of 420,000 units sold globally.
