Uber and SWIFT Networks partner to offer free Wifi service to UberVIPs

Uber-Taxi

Uber Nigeria and SWIFT Networks are partnering to give VIP Uber riders a little something extra to look forward to on their next trip. The Red Cheetah free wifi on VIP rides ensures they can do even more with their time while stuck in Lagos’ legendary traffic.

“We know that frequent riders don’t just ‘travel’ while on an Uber trip – whether it’s making business or personal calls, responding to emails or catching up with social media, time traveling no longer equates to idle time”, says Maria Keshinro, Uber’s Country Lead for Nigeria.

“That’s why we’re looking forward to giving back to our VIPs – letting them do more while using Uber.”

SWIFT Networks will be kitting up to 500 UberVIP vehicles with its Red Cheetah high-speed wifi services.

“We are excited about this partnership with Uber to bring our revolutionary free wifi model to Uber’s VIP riders which will be fast, secure, and free”, enthused Philip Sonibare, the General Manager of the Red Cheetah product at SWIFT.

This offering will be available to UberVIPs from 2nd April 2017 and there will be no limit to the amount of data riders can use while on the trip, as long as the riders continue to view messages by sponsors who make the service possible at intervals.

Up to five people can use the wifi service at once, meaning that a group of up to five can share not just an Uber VIP ride but free wifi services as well.

VIP riders are riders who’ve completed 10 trips or more in a month. These riders are given temporary access to a unique ‘UberVIP’ view for the next 30 days. This, connects them to the highest rated drivers using the Uber app. Best of all, this view gives VIP riders this benefit at the same price as a regular UberX trip.
