Nigerian entrepreneur Tunji Olowolafe has launched a N1 billion scholarship programme to support 1,000 Nigerian students studying at Miva Open University, in a move aimed at expanding access to technology-driven higher education.

The scholarship was unveiled by Dr Tunji Olowolafe, chairman of Deux Project Limited and the founder of the Foundation, on the first anniversary of the passing of his cherished wife, Gbemisola Olowolafe. This initiative is dedicated to her memory and honour.

The Gbemisola Olowolafe Miva Scholarship is a fully-funded undergraduate scholarship programme designed to remove financial barriers that prevent talented and ambitious Nigerians from accessing quality higher education. Through this initiative, the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation will cover complete tuition costs for 1,000 beneficiaries enrolled at Miva Open University, one of Nigeria’s forward-looking institutions of higher learning, over five years.

This scholarship is a tribute to the values that Gbemisola Olowolafe embodied throughout her life: a deep belief in education as the great equaliser, a commitment to kindness, and a desire to see others reach their full potential regardless of their socioeconomic background.

Announcing the initiative on his LinkedIn page, the entrepreneur and philanthropist stated, “Gbemisola believed that education was the ultimate equaliser; a tool that should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background. By removing tuition barriers for 1,000 aspiring leaders, we are ensuring that her legacy of kindness, excellence, and service lives on in the success stories of others”.
