Kaspersky rolls out threat detection platform for enterprises

Kaspersky Lab on Tuesday said it was expanding its enterprise security portfolio with a new threat detection platform designed to help businesses spot targeted attacks against their network.

A statement by Mr Nikita Shvetsov, Kaspersky Lab’s Chief Technology Officer, said the Anti Targeted Attack Platform monitors and analyses data collected from different points of the corporate Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, including network activity from the web and e-mail.

It said that it does so by utilising network and endpoint sensors and Kaspersky’s own sandbox engine technology.

The statement added that the network data would then be processed through machine learning technology and combined with verdicts from different analysis engines.

It said that it would then determine whether suspicious events are indeed malicious and an alert to IT staff would be made.

The statement said that Kaspersky admitted that targeted attacks represent less than one per cent of the entire threat landscape, but what these types of attacks lack in frequency they make up for in severity.

It said that even the most unsophisticated targeted attacks can prove successful and wreak havoc on an enterprises’ network.

“As we developed our Anti Targeted Attack Platform, we learnt that a working solution cannot stand apart from well-known and highly efficient security approaches.

“At the same time, new corporate threats demand new technology and intelligence, an order of magnitude more complex than our existing solutions,’’ Shvetsov said.

It added that Kaspersky was also launching a new assessment service that tests a company’s security standing against a variety of attack methods.

It said that the service would include penetration, testing and application security assessment.
