Rutger Reman has recently resumed office as the new President and Managing Director for Ericsson Nigeria.
Reman who has taken over from Johan Jemdahl will be reporting to Jean-Claude Geha, President and CEO of Ericsson sub-Saharan Africa.
Speaking on the new appointment, Geha said: “Rutger has demonstrated excellent leadership capabilities, and has displayed keen insight in developing business and creating value. He brings to bear nearly 30-years’ experience in the telecommunications and technology industry and possesses a strong drive to strengthen Ericsson’s support and amplify its new innovation to leading operators and their customers in the Nigerian market.”
Rutger Reman who joined Ericsson over 20 years ago says he is “exceptionally pleased to join the Nigerian team and be an integral part of the ongoing growth and transformation of Nigeria ICT domain.”
On his plans for the company, he said; “With the upsurge in the numbers of connected people and devices, it is clear that technology is at the core of an increasingly Networked Society also for Nigeria as a great nation.
“At Ericsson Nigeria, we are focused on creating technology solutions that support this transformation for people and businesses that thrive through it. And it is my sincere hope that my opportunity to serve in Nigeria will create immense value across several business sectors and value chains,” Reman added.
Ericsson in a statement made available to BusinessDay, says it remains committed to its vision of onward expansion and growth in Sub-Saharan Africa and Nigeria in particular.
Mobile broadband will account for 90 percent of global, and around 83 percent of Sub-Saharan African subscriptions by 2022. This indicates an immense opportunity, especially for Nigeria as the largest telecom market in Sub-Saharan Africa by subscriptions. And as such, Rutger Reman is responsible for ensuring Ericsson’s continuous success in enabling the Networked Society in this market.
