Nigerian digital legal influencer Oluwatodimu Ige, popularly known as Oga_theLawyer, has taken a major step to deepen his tech-driven legal services after being appointed a Notary Public.

The move signals a shift from social media legal education to more advanced, globally recognised legal functions, especially in an era where digital transactions and cross-border deals are rising.

Ige, who has built a strong following online by simplifying legal issues for everyday Nigerians, said the new role allows him to authenticate documents, administer oaths, and validate agreements for international use.

Speaking on the significance of the role, Oga the Lawyer described it as both an honour and a call to heightened professional duty, stating, “The office of a Notary Public is historically rooted in principles of trust, integrity, and the authentication of legal instruments. By attaining this status, I am now empowered to perform specialised functions that provide global validity to legal documents.

“It is a significant milestone and a call to greater responsibility. The office of a Notary Public is one of trust, integrity, and authenticity in legal documentation. It enhances my ability to support clients in transactions that require certification, authentication, and international recognition, particularly in cross-border commercial dealings.”

Ige, who maintains a focused practice in debt recovery and commercial law, also noted that the new designation is a natural extension of his current work. He emphasised that the ability to authenticate documents and administer oaths will streamline complex processes that require high evidentiary standards.

“It complements my practice seamlessly. Many debt recovery matters involve documentation that must meet strict evidentiary and international standards. As a Notary Public, I am able to authenticate documents, administer oaths, and ensure that instruments are legally credible across jurisdictions,” he said.

This new capacity is expected to be particularly beneficial for Ige’s clients involved in foreign transactions or those managing assets that span multiple jurisdictions, effectively adding a layer of efficiency and credibility to his recovery processes.

As he continues to balance his roles as an advocate, analyst, and influencer, this appointment positions Ige as an even more versatile asset to his clients, reinforcing his commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal practice in an increasingly globalised commercial environment.

“The office of a Notary Public is built on trust and authenticity. This step gives me the power to support clients whose transactions go beyond Nigeria, especially in today’s digital and global economy,” he said.
