It was a moment of awesomeness as Princewill Albert Akpan, the overall winner of the Ibom Open golf tournament 2026,, lauded In-Motion Business Ltd, a top tier real estate firm in Nigeria, for being his sponsor for the 2026 Ibom Open Golf tournament, where 38 trophies were won by golfers in the week-long event, hosted at Ibom Golf and Country Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

 

Speaking shortly after clinching the trophies, Akpan said all the trophies are dedicated to In-Motion Business Limited, his main sponsor that catered for all his expenses in the tournament.

 

“Golf is something else. You don’t know the beginning, and you don’t know the end. I thank my sponsor, In-Motion. I promise them that by next year, I’ll win the trophies again.”

 

Isiah Archibong, the Captain of Ibom Golf Club, , while describing the event as historic, appreciated golfers for their interest and support and thanked the partners for their sponsorship, which culminated in making the tournament memorable and worthwhile.

 

He praised Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom State governor for his commitment to making the State a prime tourism destination on the African continent.

 

“Let me highlight the government’s numerous infrastructural and socioeconomic interventions, including effective maintenance of the golf course and addition of a 9-hole golf course at the ARISE Palm Resort.”

 

Anietie Udofia, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, pledged to sustain the administration’s tourism drive and appreciated members of Ibom Golf Club for the successful hosting of the tournament.

 

“I promise to partner with the club in developing programmes that would bring the state more golfing acclaim”.

 

In his remark, Idris Wada, former Governor of Kogi State, who participated in the tournament, applauded the leadership and members of Ibom Golf and Country Club for effective planning and delivery of the tournament and appreciated the state as home to golfers.

 

Umana Okon Umana, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, while appreciating organizers of the tournament, promised continuous support to the club.

 

“I also appreciate the State Government for providing World-class golfing infrastructure, to make the state a warm golfing destination”.

 

Sponsors of the tournament, including Ship Africa, Ibom Air, First Bank, and others, expressed delight with the organizers for putting the State in the spotlight, while promising their continued support for golfers on the continent.

 

The week long tournament brought together public servants of note, captains of industry, business moguls, security chiefs, and captains of major golf clubs in the country.
