D'Tigress

Skambo Morrisson, Social Welfare Officer of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), has hailed Nigeria’s D’Tigress for their victory over Korea in the ongoing qualifiers for Rio 2016.

Morrisson on Wednesday in Abuja said that the team fought to seal their victory with the Korean team.

Nigeria women’s national basketball team defeated their Korean counterparts 70-69 in their group stage match on Tuesday.

“We appreciate them for a job well done; at least, we have a chance to continue in this tournament.

“We lost our game with Belarus, may be because it was our first match and our players were not very ready for it psychologically.

“The coach and the technical crew should work on all the mistakes so that we can perform better in the remaining games.’’

“I will advise them to remain focused in this tournament so as to make the country proud; our target is to book a ticket for Rio 2016.

“I know they will make it because we believe in them.

“We are proud of them; we cannot blame them for not winning the first game, we need to encourage them as lovers of the sport.’’

Nigeria is in Group C alongside Belarus and Korea.

The 2016 FIBA Women qualifying tournament started on June 13 to end June 19 in France.
