Real Madrid are reportedly considering a summer move for Victor Osimhen, with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho said to be a strong admirer of the Nigerian striker.

Reports suggest the La Liga giants are close to appointing Mourinho as their next manager, with the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss already identifying Osimhen as his preferred striker option.

Mourinho has admired the Super Eagles forward for several years.

During Osimhen’s spell at Napoli, the pair faced each other multiple times in Serie A when Mourinho managed AS Roma.

The Portuguese tactician also publicly compared Osimhen to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, whom he famously coached during his successful spell at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old striker has continued to attract elite European interest following another prolific campaign with Galatasaray.

Osimhen recently played a decisive role in Galatasaray’s Turkish Süper Lig title triumph, scoring twice in a dramatic 4-2 comeback victory over Antalyaspor after Mario Lemina’s opener had earlier been cancelled out by Soner Dikmen.

Osimhen finished the league season with 15 goals and five assists, registering 20 goal contributions in just 22 appearances.

His performances have reportedly placed several European heavyweights on alert, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu recently acknowledged the growing interest in the striker while discussing his future in an interview with HT Spor.

Osimhen’s form in Turkey has kept him among Europe’s most sought-after forwards, with reports valuing him at around €75 million.

A potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu could also allow Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior to operate more consistently in their preferred wide attacking roles.
