High-flying Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen delivered a match-winning performance, scoring twice to propel Galatasaray to a 2-1 win over Rizespor at the Rize City Stadium in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday.
Osimhen’s brace secured all three points for The Yellow-Reds, strengthening their position at the top of the league and extending their lead over second-placed Fenerbahce to six points.
Having missed Galatasaray’s 4-1 Europa League playoff defeat to AZ Alkmaar last week, Osimhen made a triumphant return to league action, playing a decisive role in the victory.

The Nigerian forward broke the deadlock just two minutes after halftime, rising high to head home a precise cross from Przemyslaw Frankowski in the 47th minute. However, Rizespor quickly responded, equalizing in the 54th minute through Abdullahi Sowe.
Determined to have the final say, Osimhen pounced on a defensive error in the 86th minute, calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to seal the win for Okan Buruk’s side.
Osimhen’s Bold Warning to Mourinho Ahead of Fenerbahce Clash
Following his match-winning display, Osimhen sent a direct message to Jose Mourinho, the manager of second-placed Fenerbahce, ahead of their highly anticipated Intercontinental Derby clash next Monday.
“It will be a normal match. We are not afraid of Fenerbahce. We are ready,” Osimhen said.
His statement underlines Galatasaray’s determination to maintain their lead and take another step toward clinching the league title.
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer, Osimhen has been in red-hot form, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in 18 league appearances.
Additionally, he has netted five times and registered one assist in the Europa League, bringing his tally to 24 goal contributions in 24 matches across all competitions.
With his impressive goal-scoring form, Mourinho will need to devise a tactical masterplan to contain the in-form Nigerian when Fenerbahce and Galatasaray lock horns in what promises to be a title-defining clash.
