Jose Mourinho has played down reports linking him with a return to Real Madrid, insisting he remains focused on his role at Benfica.

Speaking in a recent interview with Italian newspaper Il Giornale, the 63-year-old was asked about speculation connecting him with both Real Madrid and Juventus. According to Mundo Deportivo, Mourinho dismissed any suggestion of a summer exit.

“No, my next objective is to take Benfica to the Champions League,” he said, underlining his commitment to the Portuguese side.

Mourinho also praised his squad’s form, highlighting their impressive run. “We’ve had an extraordinary campaign; we’re the only team in Europe that hasn’t lost a match,” he said.

“If we win our next three games, we’ll be playing in the most important competition in Europe. That’s all I can think about.”

Nicknamed “The Special One,” Mourinho returned to Benfica in September 2025, marking 25 years since his first head coaching role at the club. Since then, he has revitalised the team, turning them into a dominant force domestically and in Europe.

Although his contract runs until 2027, it reportedly includes a clause allowing him to leave for free within a 10-day window at the end of the season.
