Mo Salah to join Al Hilal as Liverpool contract talks stall

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah could be on the brink of a departure from Anfield, with reports suggesting fresh negotiations have significantly advanced. Sources now boldly rate the chances of the Egyptian star joining Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal at 99%.

While Liverpool fans continue to enjoy one of Salah’s finest seasons, fears are growing that it could be his last at the club. With his contract set to expire in the summer, Liverpool have tabled a renewal offer, but Salah has publicly stated that no agreement is close.

Salah has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with Al Hilal emerging as the frontrunner. Saudi journalist Khaled Al-Shenaif revealed key figures are in London to finalize the deal.

“According to the information we have, Al Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel and [Saudi Pro League vice chairman] Saad Al Lazeez are currently in London to finalize the signings of a 2003-born player and Mohamed Salah,” Al-Shenaif said on KSA Sports.

“Salah is 99 per cent an Al Hilal player, while Virgil van Dijk is very close. Everything has been agreed upon; the only thing left is for both players to sign. This transfer will take place over the summer, before the Club World Cup.”

If Salah leaves after his contract expires, Liverpool would not receive a transfer fee but would retain him for the remainder of the season. Al Hilal are reportedly targeting Salah as a replacement for Neymar, whose tenure in Saudi Arabia has been hampered by injuries.

The move, if confirmed, would mark a monumental shift in Salah’s career and further solidify Saudi Arabia’s growing presence in world football.
