Man United reach verbal agreement with Victor Osimhen

Manchester United have verbally agreed with Victor Osimhen in a bid to sign the Napoli striker this summer. The report claims United are willing to meet Osimhen’s release clause, according to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale.

The 26-year-old Super Eagles striker is currently on loan at Galatasaray and has been a sought-after forward, and his arrival at Old Trafford could revitalise United’s struggling attack.

Both clubs have reportedly agreed to pay his release clause, which is set to drop from £100 million to £65 million this summer.

Osimhen‘s loan spell at Galatasaray has been highly successful, with 17 goals and five assists in 23 appearances, leading them to the top of the Super Lig and the Europa League knockout stages. His form has attracted interest from top European clubs, with United and PSG leading the race.

Sports Digitale reporter Yağız Sabuncuoğlu suggests that Galatasaray will find it “difficult” to compete with the financial power of United and PSG. While Galatasaray secured Osimhen’s loan due to the extended Turkish transfer window, it appears he will leave Istanbul at the end of the season.

Osimhen’s strengths lie in his ability to run behind defenders and his aerial prowess, qualities United have lacked this season. While some have questioned his technical ability, his goal-scoring instincts and physical dominance are undeniable.

Victor Osimhen’s disagreement with Antonio Conte last summer led to him being stripped of his jersey number and loaned out. Romelu Lukaku subsequently took over the No. 9 spot at the Serie A club.

Despite the earlier conflict, Osimhen signed a contract extension with Napoli in December 2023, keeping him at the club until 2026.

This new contract included a release clause, initially set at £100 million, which has since dropped to £65 million.
