Manchester United are reportedly close to submitting a new bid worth around €35 million (£30 million) for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu as Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen his squad.

The Denmark international has also been monitored by Tottenham and Chelsea but is believed to prefer a move to Old Trafford.

According to Sky in Italy, Lecce initially resisted selling Patrick Dorgu in January but could be persuaded with an offer in the range of €30 million to €35 million, potentially including bonuses.

United manager Ruben Amorim has identified the 20-year-old Danush defender as a key position to reinforce, with Dorgu emerging as a more affordable option compared to players like PSG’s Nuno Mendes and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez in the left-back position.

The 20-year-old has been a standout performer for Lecce this season, scoring three goals and one assist in 22 appearances for the Serie A club across all competitions. His brilliant performance has also earned his first call-up to the Danish national team.

After a 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday, Amorim is eager to bring in fresh talent to address ongoing squad issues. Dorgu’s arrival would mark a significant step forward in the club’s January transfer window strategy.
