Le Guen declines Super Eagles job

Frenchman Paul Le Guen won’t move to Nigeria to become the manager of the Super Eagles, the country’s senior national soccer team.

“During final negotiations, he objected to being given a target and also did not wish to live in Nigeria, which was a sore point with the Board,” the Nigerian Football Federation said Tuesday in a statement posted on its website.

The organization said on Monday that Le Guen had been named manager of the team, with one of his main tasks to get the players ready for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification. The appointment was subject to contract terms being agreed with the NFF Executive Committee.
