Ghanaian witch doctor Nana Kwaku Bonsam has claimed he placed a curse on England captain Harry Kane ahead of Ghana‘s FIFA 2026 World Cup showdown with the Three Lions on Tuesday.

England and Ghana meet in a highly anticipated Group L encounter, with both teams entering the match on the back of opening-day victories. The winner will secure a place in the knockout stages of the tournament.

Thomas Tuchel’s England side began their campaign with an entertaining 4-2 win over Croatia, powered by a Harry Kane brace and further goals from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford.

Ghana, meanwhile, edged Panama 1-0 thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Caleb Yirenkyi, keeping alive hopes of a major upset against one of the tournament favourites.

Adding an unusual twist to the build-up, Nana Kwaku Bonsam claimed he had used spiritual powers to hinder Kane’s influence in the match.

“I am not wishing him serious injury,” Bonsam reportedly said.

“It will be just enough to stop him against my country. I will do my work so that it can help Ghana.”

The comments have generated widespread attention ahead of the fixture, with Kane once again finding himself at the centre of pre-match discussion due to his status as England’s captain and leading goalscorer.

Despite the claims, England remain overwhelming favourites to claim all three points. However, Ghana’s disciplined and resilient display against Panama has shown they could pose problems for Tuchel’s side.

The Black Stars will hope to build on that momentum as they seek a result that would guarantee their place in the World Cup knockout rounds and strengthen Africa’s challenge at the tournament.
