Nigeria’s U20 Women Team, Falconets, will depart Nigeria for Papua New Guinea on Sunday ahead of the 8th FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup scheduled to hold between Nov. 13 and Dec. 3.

A statement issued by Ademola Olajire, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Assistant Director, Communications, said the delegation of 21 players and officials led by Head Coach Peter Dedevbo would fly out of the country aboard an Emirate Airlines flight from Lagos on Sunday evening.

The Falconets, runners-up at the last edition of the championship tagged “Canada 2014”, defeated Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa home and away to qualify for the World Cup.

The team however, lost 0-1 to the Super Falcons on Thursday in their last test match before departure for Papua New Guinea.

Nigeria will open her campaign on Nov. 13 against Japan before matches against Canada and Spain respectively.

Falconets reached the quarter-finals in Thailand 2004, Russia 2006 and Chile 2008, and where semi-finalists at the Japan 2012 edition.

The team finished in second place in Germany 2010 and Canada 2014.
