Everton vs Newcastle: Toffees tackle Magpies in relegation survival

Premier League

A Premier League cracker beckons today as struggling Everton side lock horns with an impressive Newcastle United side in an important clash at Goodison Park.

Everton are currently in the relegation spot in the Premier League standings and have not been at their best so far this season. The Toffees narrowly edged Nottingham Forest 1-0 victory over the weekend and will be confident ahead of this fixture.

Newcastle are in sixth place in the Premier League table at the moment and have been in impressive form this season. The Magpies stunned Manchester United with a 1-0 victory in their previous game and will look to take it up a notch this week.

Sean Dyche’s men are underdogs heading into the game, but a win for Everton will push them out of the relegation zone.

The Toffees have won three of their first four Premier League home games under Dyche, and have won just two of their last 12 matches

at Goodison Park, with both of those victories coming against Bournemouth.

Everton are in the relegation zone at the moment and face an uphill battle in the coming months. Newcastle United are the better team at the moment and should be able to win this game.

The Magpies have won five of the last six meetings, including doing the double over Everton last season.

Dyche’s men have also lost their last four games played in midweek and have conceded four goals in each of their last three such fixtures, including the heavy 4-1 home defeat to the Magpies in April.

While Newcastle have excelled on home soil this term, losing just two games out of 11 games at St James’ Park, the Magpies have struggled to grind out positive results on the road, as they have only won three of their last 15 away matches in all competitions since April.
