Jude Bellingham scored twice as England came from behind to defeat Norway 2-1 after extra time in the quarter-finals of the FIFA 2026 World Cup, booking the Three Lions’ place in the semi-finals.
England recovered from a goal down in the sweltering Miami heat to seal a dramatic victory and move within one win of their first World Cup final in 60 years.
Norway, playing in their first-ever World Cup quarter-final, stunned England when Andreas Schjelderup fired them into an early lead.

However, Bellingham produced a moment of brilliance to level the scores just before half-time, having also scored twice in England’s dramatic 3-2 Round of 16 victory over Mexico.
Norway thought they had restored their advantage in the second half, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review for a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up.
With both sides stretched physically, the contest went into extra time, where Bellingham struck again. The Real Madrid midfielder capitalised on a mistake by goalkeeper Orjan Nyland to score his sixth goal of the tournament and complete England’s comeback.
The victory sends England into the semi-finals, where they will face defending champions Argentina for a place in the World Cup final.
Meanwhile, Haaland’s remarkable scoring streak of finding the net in 14 consecutive competitive matches for Norway came to an end against the country of his birth. The Manchester City striker was substituted during extra time after an exhausting performance.
England have now come from behind to win two knockout matches at this tournament, having previously ended a long-standing World Cup hoodoo with their comeback victory over Mexico in the Round of 16.
