Former England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes Manchester City have taken the lead in the Premier League title race following their 2-1 win over Arsenal.

Arsenal’s defeat at the Etihad Stadium has shifted momentum significantly, with Owen now tipping Pep Guardiola’s side to edge the Gunners in the final standings.

“Well, you’d have to say that Man City have just gone slight favourites now, so I’d probably say: Man City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool,” Owen stated.

Despite the setback, Owen praised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for his work this season, acknowledging the challenges of competing at the highest level in English football.

“This is not an easy job, being a top Premier League manager, and he’s doing a serious, serious job,” he said.

“If they don’t win it, they don’t win it. He’s probably going up against one of the greatest managers of all time,” Owen added.
