Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has provided an update on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who is currently recovering from a knee injury.
Lookman has been sidelined for over a month and his availability for the crucial Champions League match against Club Brugge remains uncertain.
“Kolasinac and Lookman trained well, but they are following a differentiated training regimen,” Gasperini told Bergamo News after Nerazzurri draw against Cagliari.

“We will assess their conditions in the next few days, especially considering that we might need to go into extra time on Tuesday. Kolasinac is closer to recovery, while Lookman is doing fine; he moves well but is still feeling some discomfort. The knee is a delicate area.”
Gasperini also addressed the team’s recent struggles, acknowledging the impact of key absences.
“Absences are significant because they can affect our performance. Teams that come here often struggle, and we must find solutions and the right movements against teams that play very defensively. We’re facing challenges, and it’s up to us to improve and resolve this situation.”
Lookman, 27, has missed Atalanta’s last two Champions League games and is doubtful for Tuesday’s clash against Club Brugge at the Gewiss Stadium.
The Super Eagles forward has been vital for Atalanta this season, contributing 14 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions. He was also recently named the 2024 African Player of the Year.
