Carabao Cup: Kompany’s Burnley away to Nottingham Forest as Chelsea welcome AFC Wimbledon

Nottingham Forest will hope to continue their impressive run in the 2023/24 Premier League season as they welcome Premier League side Burnley in Wednesday’s fixtures of the Carabao Cup as Chelsea welcomes FC Wimbledon to Stamford Bridge.

Vincent Kompany who was named Championship manager of the season after guiding Burnley to promotion last season will be guiding his struggling side to face an informed Forest with Nigerian import Taiwo Awoniyi leading the frontline in attack.

The 37-year-old Belgian guided the Clarets to an immediate top-flight return in his first season in charge.

However, the Clarets have not been so impressive in their return to top flight football, suffering a 3-0 defeat to league champions Manchester City in their opening match of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea will be counting on last weekend’s form to progress in the Carabao Cup.

The former Tottenham manager will want to make a statement against Premier League challengers following their summer spending in the transfer market.

The 51-year-old Argentine managed Spurs for five years from 2014 and led them to the 2019 Champions League final.
Pochettino is Chelsea’s sixth permanent manager in five years, following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season.
