President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate release of funds to clear all entitlements accrued to the Super Falcons, winner of the African Women Championship .

This was disclosed by the Chief of Staff to President, Abba Kyari, who told journalists at the State House Abuja that the President had
summoned the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, and ordered them to clear all outstanding due the team, today.

” The problem has been resolved. They have done us proud and we congratulated them. The ministries of Sport and Finance have been
ordered. to pay them tomorrow (today). I don’t know the details of the arrears but they have been directed to pay” Kyari told reporters at
the Presidential Villa.

Kyari who only resumed from his medical vacation, had summoned the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to a meeting at
the Villa, earlier in the day met and addressed the protesting team at Aso Rock gate promising that the backlogs will be cleared within 48
hours.

The Falcons who won the 2016 Africa Women’s Champion two weeks ago, took their protest to the Aso Rock demanding payment of all emoluments owed them even as they refused to vacate their hotel in Abuja. The players were led by their team captain Rita Chikwelu.
