Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the first time following a sensational campaign for Manchester United in the 2025/26 season.
The Manchester United captain adds the prestigious honour to the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award, which he also won earlier this month.

Fernandes enjoyed one of the finest individual seasons in Premier League history, equalling the record for most assists in a single campaign after registering his 20th assist against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
His assist for Bryan Mbeumo in United’s 3-2 victory moved him level with former Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry for the most assists recorded in a Premier League season.
“I’m very happy for the assist and for the win to finish the season on a high,” Fernandes said after matching the record.
“I got to 20; let’s see if I can get to 21. We have one more game. It’s the highest I’ve done in the Premier League, so I am very happy with it.”
The Portugal midfielder has also scored eight goals in 37 league appearances, helping Manchester United secure a third-place finish and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Fernandes has created 132 chances this season, more than any other player in the Premier League and 43 more than second-placed Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool.
The 31-year-old is the first Manchester United player to win the Premier League Player of the Season award since former captain Nemanja Vidić claimed the honour in 2011.
Fernandes has also surpassed David Beckham as Manchester United’s top creator in a single Premier League season. Beckham previously held the club record with 15 assists during the 1999/2000 campaign.
