Highly ranked boxing promoter Todd DuBoef says former UFC champion Francis Ngannou deserves a rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury following his impressive performance against Fury in October 2023.

Fury survived what could be the biggest upset in the history of boxing against MMA fighter Ngannou who made his boxing debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury won a controversial split decision over Ngannou in a ‘Battle of the Baddest’ fight on Saturday night.

In an interview with Sky Sports, DuBoef said Ngannou, 37-year-old, who left the UFC in January 2023 before signing a multi-fight deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) deserves a rematch with Fury.

“That’s an earned ability to get the rematch. He earned that,” Du Boef told Sky Sports.

“His performance dictated that, ‘Woah, he has a chance. We never thought he had a chance and, in that situation, I think absolutely.

“I think Tyson is regretful. He blamed himself. He thought he had an off night.

“He said: ‘I took it lightly. It was all on me.’ I didn’t point fingers, which was good.

“Ngannou outperformed anybody’s expectation, and as a result of that, you have all the components to say, hey, I want to see this again, and that creates and warrants a rematch.”

Ngannou has also called for a rematch shortly after his controversial defeat to Fury and boxing fans will be eager to see the two fight again.

But Fury is focused on his heavyweight fight, a world title clash with Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.

The bout could see the first undisputed heavyweight champion crowned in the four-belt era as four belts, IBF, WBO, IBO and WBA heavyweight titles will be on the line.
