Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has emerged as a transfer target for Tanzanian Premier League side Azam FC, with South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs also in the race for his signature, according to reports.
The 29-year-old Nigerian shot-stopper has been without a club since February after terminating his contract with Chippa United midway through the season.

Azam FC are said to be serious contenders, as they look to strengthen their squad and reassert themselves as a dominant force in Tanzanian football. The club, which last won the league title in the 2013/14 season, are reportedly prepared to meet the financial demands required to secure Nwabali’s services.
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that talks between the player and the Tanzanian side are at an advanced stage, with a deal nearing completion.
Nwabali’s departure from Chippa United came as a surprise, given his status as club captain and one of their most consistent performers.
Now a free agent, the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper appears set for a new chapter, with interest mounting from across the continent.
