Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has dismissed concerns about his future despite mounting pressure following his side’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
James Maddison’s early goal secured victory for Spurs, lifting them to 12th in the Premier League, while United remain 15th after their 12th loss in 25 league matches.
Amorim, who arrived from Sporting in November, has endured a torrid run of form, raising speculation about his position. While a mid-season dismissal seems unlikely, the Portuguese coach is already facing questions about his job security.
“I am not worried,” Amorim told the BBC. “I understand our fans and the media’s thoughts. I hate losing—it’s the worst feeling. But my focus is on helping my players. I understand my situation, I’m confident in my work, and I just want to win games. My concern is our position in the table, not myself.”
United had opportunities to equalise, with Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee missing key chances, but failed to capitalise.
“The difference was they scored, and we didn’t,” Amorim admitted. “We created chances, had opportunities in transitions, but in the end, they took theirs, and we didn’t.”
Ahead of the match, Amorim acknowledged the mental toll of United’s struggles, describing the situation as “exhausting” for everyone at the club.
“It’s ups and downs. It’s a fight every day—with everything, with the media—and you have to cope with a lot of games,” he told Sky Sports. “At a club like this, if you can’t string together wins, you’re always battling. That can be exhausting, not just for me, but for everyone.”
With pressure mounting, United face a difficult trip to Everton on Saturday as they look to salvage their season.
