Xabi Alonso has reportedly outlined three major transfer demands worth a combined £245 million as a condition to take the Liverpool coaching role, with pressure mounting on current boss Arne Slot.
The Spaniard is said to have identified key weaknesses in central defence, midfield and the forward line, insisting on elite reinforcements before committing to the role.

Top of Alonso’s wishlist is Alessandro Bastoni, with the Inter Milan defender viewed as the cornerstone of a rebuilt backline. The Italy international is valued at around £80 million.
In midfield, Alonso is targeting Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, with the highly rated Englishman priced at approximately £65 million.
To bolster the attack, Alonso wants Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. The French winger is reportedly valued at £100 million and considered a difficult signing.
The combined cost of the trio would take Liverpool’s summer spending to around £245 million, underlining the scale of the rebuild Alonso expects.
Meanwhile, Slot’s position remains under scrutiny after a disappointing campaign, with Liverpool trailing Arsenal by 21 points and facing a battle to secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
A review of the Dutchman’s future is expected at the end of the season, with reports suggesting his fate could hinge on Liverpool’s progress in Europe, including their tie against Galatasaray.
Alonso, currently one of Europe’s most sought-after coaches, is believed to be assessing the sporting project carefully before making any decision on a potential return to Anfield.
