Annually, organisations engage in multi-sectoral collaboration with healthcare companies with an aim of advancing and improving healthcare needs within the community and the country at large. While such initiatives bring together all sectors of the economy in a synergy to address healthcare challenges, experts believe such platforms would address teething healthcare challenges.
Ahead of its 2013 Grand Health Bazaar (GHB), Bisi Bright, CEO, LiveWell Initiative (LWI), a non-profit organisation, said that the health bazaar is aimed at bringing together technocrats from all walks of life such as the banking, manufacturing, health, telecoms, oil and gas sectors of the economy, is geared towards sustaining wealth creation through health solutions and partnerships, which incidentally the theme of this year’s health bazaar.
“Our aim is to improve the health status of people through wellness promotion, health-empowerment and positively influencing health-seeking behaviour. About 80-100 prominent companies and conglomerates are expected to attend the 3-day health programme. They include Lagos State Government, Skye Bank plc, United Airlines, Sahara Group, Oando plc, IESL, Oxford Business Group, Africa Oil & Gas Report, BusinessDay, GSK, Nestle, May & Baker, Osun State Government, US Consulate, Irish Embassy, diplomatic community, international collaborators and affiliates.
“The US Consulate-partnered event GHB2013, is scheduled to hold from April 17th -19th 2013 at the Havilah, via Sheraton Four Points in Victoria Island, Lagos. Sub-themes to be discussed include Power and Energy: a boost to the ecosystem and robust health, Property Day: ‘building in safety and safety in buildings: a learning continuum’ and Aviation: ‘Travellers’ Medicines and ‘in-flight’ healthcare,” Bright explained.
It will be recalled that the first ever LWI GHB was the first ever grand health multi-sectoral bazaar which attracted endorsements from United States Consulate General which endorsed the event. UN Millenia2015, the Women’s eHealth, awarded the ‘Woman of the Year Laureate’ award to its Country Director in Nigeria, with accolades to the LWI GHB2011.
