The Delta State government has pledged to maintain its 100 percent polio free track record through the strengthening of its polio immunisation and sensitisation campaign efforts in the state.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who gave this pledge at the weekend when he flagged off the 2013 First Quarter Polio Immunisation and Sensitisation Campaign at the Oharisi Primary School, Ughelli, decried the prevalence of the wild polio disease in some parts of the country and promised that the state would continue to strengthen its efforts to completely eradicate the disease and remain polio free.

He said, “Delta State has been declared free of the wild polio disease for some years now and since the polio infection is still prevalent in some parts of the country, we will continue to strengthen our ‘Kick Polio Out Campaign’ efforts so that we will not be caught off guard.”
